Job for Pest Control Technician

Xterm Pest Management now has openings for qualified Pest Control and Management Technicians.

Purpose:

To Actively Support and Uphold the Xterm Pest Management mission statement and wholesome values while expanding our brand. To Perform skilled work in the application of pesticides to private homes, commercial buildings, inside, outside, and around buildings.

Supervision Received and Exercised:

Receives functional and technical supervision from Strategic Operations and Operations Manager and other supervisory staff and management.

Example of Expected Duties:

This class of specification is intended to indicate the basic nature of positions allocated to the class and examples of typical duties that may be assigned. It does not imply that all positions with the class perform all of the duties listed, nor does it necessarily list all possible duties that may be assigned. For a listing of a specific position’s essential job functions, see the recruitment bulletin at the time of job opening.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:

  • Mix and apply chemical pesticides to buildings, commercial properties; complete daily logs and prepare organized and legible reports of all work performed; use computer for data entry and retrieval, report creation and filing and printing special requests as needed. Maintain pesticide storage in vehicles, around vehicles, and in work areas in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Assess and remove from private property and commercial property nuisance pests such as roaches, rodents, and birds, etc.
  • Perform termite inspections in areas treated by outside contractors and notify supervisor and property owner of any termite activity in untreated properties.
  • Post notices regarding pesticide application prior to spraying
  • Respond appropriately to requests and inquiries from the general public and staff.
  • Calibrate equipment for accurate application of recommended amount of chemicals use, clean, and maintain spray equipment and other tools as required.
  • Identify equipment needs for each assigned project; use mathematical skills involving fractions, decimals and percentages to calculate area and amount of chemical to be used.
  • Utilize proper safety procedures and precautions related to all work performed.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Experience and Training Guidelines:

Any Combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. The hiring department may include job related experience, training or license and certification preferences at the time of recruitment. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:

  • 2 years of responsible grounds and/or facility maintenance experience with at least one year of experience in the application and use of pesticides or possession of a Florida Pest Control Commission Certification in one of the following categories: General Household Pest Control, Termite Prevention, or Lawn & Ornamental.
  • Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages at a level necessary for successful job performance. Basic skills preferred. Completion of High School or GED Preferred.
  • Clean Driving records a must.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain an appropriate Florida’s Drivers license.
  • Ability to pass drug test and a Driving and Criminal Background Check
  • Possession of General Household Pest Control, Termite Prevention, or Lawn & Ornamental certifications.
  • Continued employment in this classification requires Annual renewal of certifications per state of Florida Pest Control Commission Laws and attendance to CEU training classes.
